Although some of Rivera's early works are very much influenced by Cubism ('View of Toledo', 'Motherhood'), we classify him under his work that is most appreciated, namely that of social realism. Examples of his Mexican social sketches include 'Peasants', 'Fruits of Labor', 'El Vendedor de Flores' and 'Retrato de Ignacio'.

Diego Rivera's full name was Diego María de la Concepción Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera y Barrientos Acosta y Rodríguez.
Diego Rivera's third wife, Frida Kahlo, was a fellow Mexican artist. The two had a very rough relationship with many ups and downs.
