Interesting In those days it was very difficult for women to get into the circle of artists. Manet's first contacts with Impressionist female artists Berthe Morisot and Eva Gonzalès was with them as a model.

A lot of critics liked to criticize the work of Manet. For instance he was accused of incompetence for painting 'A Bar at the Folies-Bergere'. Critics were astonished by his obvious "mistake": the customer was missing from the painting.
