| Interesting |
Emil Nolde was born as Emil Hansen. Since 1902 he changed his last name to the name of his birthplace, Nolde in Germany.
Nolde doesn't receive the attention he deserves from his paintings because he was a sstrong favourite of the national socialist party and was very well liked by the Nazi-establishment. But this all changed when Hitler banned his art and the Nazi-world turned their back towards Emil Nolde.
