Frédéric Bazille was a good friend of fellow impressionists His friends included Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Édouard Manet. At one moment Bazille had to borrow money 600 francs from his artist friends to pay for the rent of a studio. When we know that the average yearly wage of a simple servant back then was about 25 francs per month, this means that this was a lot of money.
Frédéric Bazille died in battle during the Franco-Prussian War.
