Like a lot of other people in those days, Jean-Antoine Watteau suffered from tuberculosis during his lifetime. In 1719 he decided to visit the famous English doctor Mead, hoping that he could help him. Unfortunately, his disease was in the final stages and Watteau died two years later at the age of 37.
