| Interesting |
John Constable wasn't very succesful during his lifetime with his landscape paintings. He only sold about 20 paintings during his entire life. However due to the inheritance of his father, a succesful merchant, Constable never led a poor life.
Unlike during his lifetime, Constable now does receive the credit he deserves. John Constable is often referred to as the father of modern landscape painting.
