Paul Gauguin spent a couple of years on the isle of Tahiti. The paintings Paul Gauguin made in Tahiti are amongst his most famous work. They were mysterious, yet powerful canvases. Gauguin's mother was of Peruvian descent.
Before painting full-time, Paul Gauguin was an accountant.
Gauguin married a Danish girl, Mette Sophia Gad.
Gauguin died at the age 54, of syphilis on the Island of Hiva Oa in the Marquesas.
