An example of his early neo-impressionistic work is 'Eiffel Tower'. Around 1910 Delaunay created his own style, inspired by cubism: Orhpism. The main idea behind Delaunay's Orphism was that not the object defined the picture, but movement, light, and rhythm. Examples of his Orphist paintings are
'Circular Forms', 'Rhythme Sans Fin', 'Joie de Vivre' and 'Homage to Bleriot'.

| Quote | "Simultaneity in light is harmony, the rhythm of colors which creates the Vision of Man. Human vision is endowed with the greatest Reality, since it comes to us directly from the contemplation of the Universe. The eye is the most refined of our senses, the one which communicates most directly with our mind, our consciousness."

Sonja Terk, often referred to as Sonia Delaunay because she was Robert's wife, is also a celebrated artist. Sonia Delaunay joined her husband in the construction of Orphism.
Robert Delaunay invented something mathematical, called Delaunay's Triangulation. This is, very basic, the most efficient way to draw triangles between a given set of points. Each point is connected by lines to its closest neighbours, in such a way that all line parts form triangles, and do not intersect otherwise. No triangles overlap; in fact, the surface is completely covered with one nice layer of different triangular tiles.
