Colored Pencil on Black Artagain
Today’s unknown artwork of the day is by Alida Saxon who is also moderator of the Flickr group “Your Art – Not Photography“. This work is part of a series including the Four Seasons and Elements: Winter/Water, Spring/Air, Summer/Earth, Autumn/Fire. A print of this work is available at Zazzle.

Not like we haven’t seen poppies before, but there’s something different about the artist. Stan Murmur uses his butt to create his works. I’m sure you’re already looking different at this painting right now. Stan Murmur is was an art teacher in an American high school. He got fired because of his extracurricular activities involving showing how he paints on tv. And since this is America (no offence) he’s suing his formal school now. Stan Murmur’s website.

The updates to Artinthepicture are flying in lately. Today I have added two things: the painter Thomas Hart Benton and the artistic movement American Regionalism of which he is one of the biggest representatives.

Time to give a little bit more attention to the artists in action section.

Here’s someone who obviously found her inspiration in René Magritte‘s work Dangerous Liaisons. I maybe would’ve preferred a similar composition (with her back in the mirror) but it still is beautiful.
This art project by the Belgian artist Arne Quinze can be seen in Brussels (Belgium). Not only has Arne Quinze provided us with this explanatory video, but you can check out the offical photo page of Cityscape and the unofficial Flickr page as well. If you wish you can also check out the work of his design studio Quinze & Milan. And oh yes if you wondered, he is sponsored by Mini.

Today’s featured artwork is one by William Smart. It is a pastel drawing on black paper and measures 28 ” x 22 ” (71 x 56 cm). You can find the drawing on Ebay.
This artist uses cleaning products to create his “reverse graffiti” art. Even more interesting than the discussion whether this is legal or not, are his results.

Today’s featured painting (although it’s really a print) is Single Pear by Mae Buzz. The first line of her profile says “I believe that art should be fun and affordable for everyone!” and that is exactly what she has to offer. The pear is available in different sizes, but I think it would look best if it’s rather big. Have a look at Mae Buzz’ profile. And she also has her own blog.
