Oil on canvas, 2006.
34″ x 40″ (86 x 102 cm)
The works of our unknown painter of the day certainly have a big appeal to me. It gives me the same feeling I have with Salvador Dali: I don’t understand it but it certainly tickles my mind. Visit Michael -Bloodoftheberry- O’Gorman’s profile on Flickr.
Nimetön I, originally uploaded by Maija Nurmiranta.
2006, 40 x 40 cm
Today’s featured unknown artist is the 28-year-old Finnish Maija Nurmiranta. Luckily my Finnish is fantastic, so the translation of Nimëton is “ring finger”. I’m guessing here, but I would think that is symbolic for the wedding ring which should match the wedding dress. Although I don’t think this painting is particularly positive about marriage… And here’s Maija Nurmiranta’s Flickr page.

Photoshop of black pen drawing.
Our unknown artist of the day is becoming really international with Maicen H Madsen from Norway today. Mostly she makes black pen drawings, so this photoshopped one definitely stood out. I feel the bright colours add the needed contrast to strengthen the sadness/emptiness. And oh yes, I am aware that I’m not a real art critic
. Also, check out Maicen’s Flickr page and Etsy store.

acrylic on canvas, 165 x 145 cm
Today’s featured artist is Polish-born Michal Lukasiewicz. And what an artist he is. His technique is without a doubt fabulous but more importantly he manages to capture a certain emotion in every one of his works. And to my biggest surprise when visiting his Flickr site, he’s from Antwerp too.

Today’s painting of the day is one by the artist Emberatia from Australia. In her own words this painting depicts “the humble journey of love as husband and wife.” For an explanation on the symbolism, visit her Flickr page. Emberatia also has her own Etsy shop and her rather new blog.

Colored Pencil on Black Artagain
Today’s unknown artwork of the day is by Alida Saxon who is also moderator of the Flickr group “Your Art – Not Photography“. This work is part of a series including the Four Seasons and Elements: Winter/Water, Spring/Air, Summer/Earth, Autumn/Fire. A print of this work is available at Zazzle.

Not like we haven’t seen poppies before, but there’s something different about the artist. Stan Murmur uses his butt to create his works. I’m sure you’re already looking different at this painting right now. Stan Murmur is was an art teacher in an American high school. He got fired because of his extracurricular activities involving showing how he paints on tv. And since this is America (no offence) he’s suing his formal school now. Stan Murmur’s website.
