A quote from Karel Appel that was written on the wall of the KMSKA in Antwerp. Here’s my best effort to a translation:
I never try to ‘make’ a painting,
it’s a scream, it’s naked,
it’s like a child, it’s like a caged tiger.
I am the surgeon of space
and paint human spaces.
My painting tube is like a rocket
that writes in its own space.

Jean-Michel Folon – Vliegen (Flying)
Bronze statue

My last piece of Brussels Airport art. It was hidden behind some ugly internet café, but the view in the other direction was a little bit better.

Finally another unknown painting of the day, maybe I should start calling it the unknown painting of the whenever I feel like it. The dimensions of this painting are 11″ x 14″ (28 x 36 cm). The painting is for sale here. Richard Wallich also has his own site.

Laurent Reypens – Flying Saucer (UFO)
Oil on panel
2000
Exhibit in Brussels National Airport ‘September 2007′
Considering the subject, I really like the light effect on my first photo. As you can see on the second photo this was just a coincidence, but I think it definitely adds soe musteriosity to the subject. Maybe somebody should try to experiment with lighting and paintings. No, that’s probably been done before as well, but I wouldn’t know of any artist who did…
By the way, I am completely aware that I still have a crappy phone camera. It really needs replacement if I want to take more and more photos of art I come across.

Yep, it’s been so quiet here as I was on a holiday. But I’m back now.
