Turner Prize 2007: Mark Wallinger

Mark Wallinger

This week will be mostly about the prestigious Turner Prize issued by the Tate Gallery. This years winner was Mark Wallinger with his art installation.

This year, Mark Wallinger, hot favourite for the 2007 prize, has entered a single work – a video of himself dressed in a furry bear suit wandering as if in a daze around a modern art gallery in Berlin.

For 10 consecutive nights, Wallinger, 48, best known for his sculpture Ecce Homo erected on Trafalgar Square’s vacant Fourth Plinth, was locked into the Neue Nationalgalerie alone. On the final night, he filmed himself in the costume on three cameras pacing the floors, gazing at onlookers outside through glass windows and slumping to the ground
