Yayoi Kusama – Dots Obsession

Yayoi Kusama

Today is a beautiful day as the first Eastern artist is introducted to Artinthepicture.com. Having the honour to be first is contemporary Japanese female artist Yayoi Kusama.

“A polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colourful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots can’t stay alone; like the communicative life of people, two or three polka-dots become movement… Polka-dots are a way to infinity.”

Typical artist gibberish or genius insights ? I don’t know. What I do know is you’ll be able to impress many friends the next time you notice the autograph of Kusama in an exhibiton and can still recall the name Kusama.
