You might know the Saatchi brand from being a leading art collection supporting such artists as Damien Hirst and Peter Doig. Or you might know Saatchi from creating one of the world’s leading marketing agencies: Saatchi & Saatchi.
Now the art and marketing expertise have been thrown together to form a new concept: Saatchi Online. Saatchi Online is a virtual art gallery where artists can display their own works for sale and make use of the strong name that Saatchi has built up. Its main target is for people to buy original art, but the tagline also suggests the online gallery is ideal for discovering new artists.
I find it an interesting way to leverage a well-known brand to help fledgling artists start selling their work. Although the website is entirely open to all artists, you will notice that many of the pages have been curated to show a decent enough quality of work as to not dilute the website. All in all if you’re looking for up and coming artists to buy and are willing to weed through some lower quality work, Saatchi Online might be of good use to you.
